Roberto Bande wins the AECR best blog entry award

Roberto Bande Ramudo, member of GAME, won the 2014 Best Blog Entry Award of the Asociación Española de Ciencia Regional (AECR), the Spanish branch of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI). The award was announced within the proceedings of the XL Regional Studies Meeting at Zaragoza on November 21.

The entry was published in La Riqueza de las Regiones, the blog launched by AECR to facilitate the diffusion of Regional Science research. In its first year of life, the blog established itself as the most visited among all blogs published by the Vocento media group, showing a large impact both in Spain and Latin America.

The awarded entry, titled ¿Por qué existe un patrón espacial Norte-Sur en el desempleo español? (Why does exist a North-South spatial pattern in Spanish unemployment?) was originally published on October the 22nd, 2014. It describes the main argumentation and conclusions of several papers about the spatial pattern of unemployment in Spain, written by Roberto Bande with the help of colleagues from GAME and other Spanish and foreign universities.

The jury granted the award on the basis of the quality and relevance of the research reported by the entry, as well as of its impact, measured both by the number of visits and comments it received and by its reproduction by several mass media outlets.
